Love how you frame this as getting ahead of the curve instead of reacting to it once it's in full swing. Just in couple of years, SS has changed dramatically from when I first explored the site. Massive improvements!!!
Same lol. It’s one thing I noticed when I first got here: Almost none of my network on other social sites was here. I thought this is either really good or really bad. Seems pretty good so far!
I really hate changes, Mack, and I especially hate folks from LinkedIn coming here with their 10X this and that - ugh
Jokes aside, you’re right - Substack’s friction (actual writing required) might keep it from becoming LinkedIn 2.0. The real test, though, is whether brands can resist turning it into a glorified CRM drip campaign.
Prediction - The first company to crack ‘How to sell forklifts via melancholic prose’ wins.
Ugh we don’t need another LI as you know lol. Well Maersk used old photos from its company archive to build awareness on Facebook so who knows. Thanks for the continual support, sis. You are a Ray of sunshine in all forms of weather.
I was correcting it as you typed that sorry lol. Funny thing is I know I typed Ray. And when I went to correct it, I typed out Ray and saved it and it changed it back to rat lol. Someone at Substack doesn’t like you 👀
Thanks for this Mack. It remains to be seen whether Substack will become an object of corporate attention; didn’t happen to Quora or Pinterest as examples.
However, I think businesses that use a Marcus Sheridan “they ask, you answer“ type of throwback strategy to content will do very well using Substack. Like you say customers need to be much further down the funnel in order to give you their email address. I also expect that people will really have an organized website on Substack, which is a direction I think Substack will go.
But in the end as more search migrates to an AI basis and until we really understand how to get content into these AI models, we won’t know what direction content marketing will actually go in.
Hi David, these are interesting thoughts. I hadn’t considered companies approaching their Substack as a website, but the available design and functional elements could make that possible. Funny you mentioned Marcus, I was just reviewing the price page from his website, may work it into an article soon. Good guy.
I think with The Free Press and other big players getting special changes to Substack, including website capabilities, these things will eventually be accessible to all. When I get back home i’m going to invest in website capabilities using tags, unpublished pages, and graphics elements to see how far I get

Hi Bette! It feels good to be ahead of the social media curve for a change! Thanks for reading and sharing!
Doesn’t it though! I’m usually always behind the 8 ball! lol

Exactly - it’s good to be on the cutting edge side of it for once. lol
Hope you are having a great weekend Mack!

A rat 🤣🤣🤣
Please dont correct the typo
I do feel like a rat of sunshine today 😜

I told you not to change it lol
It was hilarious
I have noticed that when I comment using my phone, it 'eats' my comments.
Because when I search for the comment using my laptop, it's not there.
Something weird is happening for sure.

I don’t know what Marcus is even doing anymore
