Thank you so much for the mention, Mack! It’s inspiring to see your progress and the power of consistent growth. Your journey really highlights the value of patience and persistence in building something meaningful. I’m grateful for your transparency and generosity in sharing what you’ve learned. Looking forward to the next update!
@Mack Collier, thanks for the mention! I appreciate it more than you know. I love your updates. I look forward to your monthly update and bi-weekly articles. I may not always be able to comment, but I read them. I love your transparency and generosity in sharing your journey with us. I've learned a lot from you! Connecting in this matter is the most effective way to grow your readership and subscribers. And you have proven that! You are the first friend I made on Substack. I feel blessed and grateful! Here's to even more growth!
This is that step back and reframe with the wider lens that we all need to do. I didn’t have an email list to import when I began onJanuary 21,2025. I’m still building a foundation and I got my first three subscribers.
It’s like a new tree putting down roots. I didn’t see much growth but most of it’s building strong roots and forming good connections with other people.
You are much farther along than I but I still have to write my 20th post.
Love these updates Mack. Growth has almost completely stalled on my Substack over the last month. I have no idea why! Still I keep going and trust that the right people will come with time ✨
It’s weird, I went through a period about a month ago with almost no growth for couple of weeks. I would think your Substack will help your YT and IG channels grow too. I think you’re on the right path, loving your videos 🥰
I think you may have been the first friend I made on Substack when I decided to start taking Notes seriously (a mere five weeks ago!) I am so happy to have sent people your way. You’re not only a gem of a person, super supportive and truly represent what Substack is about (especially with the recent ‘mean’ energy). A great post Mack and here’s to even more growth! 👏🏼 Thank you for sharing so openly and honestly.
Sam I wish I could give this more than a simple heart. Thank you, truly. This is a wonderfully thoughtful comment and it perfectly illustrates why I enjoy you so much. Finding you here has been a joy for me, cannot wait to see what your future looks like, you are doing so amazingly well!
You know what this reminds me of? One of those “before and after” photos where the lighting’s better in the “after” and someone finally figured out how to smile without looking constipated LOL
It’s the same person, just 200 days wiser and 1,000 subs deeper.
When I launched my newsletter, I lost 2 subscribers before I sent the third post.
So I turned off that depressing alert.
Cheers to all of us hanging in through the plateau until the slope arrives.
LOL! So you’re saying my writing at first looked ‘constipated’? Cause that is not the feedback you gave me at the time! LOL Love you, sis, thanks so much!
Congrats on your 100th article Mack! Thanks for writing about your progress as always. TIL I learned that Substack had star rating breakdowns for subscribers. I had this in my previous newsletter platform but I don't think I saw it here on SS, so guessing it must be a relatively new feature.
Hey thanks Scott! The star ratings have been here for a while, but the breakdowns of number of shares, comments, etc by subscriber is new. I’m sure there’s a way to leverage this new info, maybe have AI analyze it, not sure.
Well, one of the things I'm not sure about (and can't seem to find stats on) is whether there's a great deal more activity from US readers. My audience is 42% Australian and 24% US but that's probably because my original database was almost all Australian, however it feels like most of my in-platform engagement comes from the US (or more specifically, US timezones).
I have a suspicion that the broader Substack audience is US-centric, and wonder if I should be scheduling my content for different times. I try to timeblock my engagement activities on SS, but I find there's faster responses and activities when it's early morning for me.
I would guess US-centric as well, but don’t know. What if you scheduled say 2 Notes a day for a week as an experiment? One your target time zone and the other targeted for the US? You could track changes in engagement. Still wouldn’t be perfect, but might give you some insights.

You’re welcome, Frey. Thank you so much for your friendship :)
Mack, I’ve really loved following your journey. You’re building something real and generous here.
I appreciate the shoutout so much! Grateful to be part of this creator crew 🙌
Happy Tuesday, Irene! How are the book hunts going?
HEHE Happy Thursdayyy Mack :p
I was actually on a vacation, so I haven’t been to the book thrift store in a while hehe
Will go back there sooooooooon :p

The journey is what it’s all about.
Jocelyn to have only started a few weeks ago you are growing faster than I am. Keep going!
Thanks I intend to🌹

1 more month and you will be at your 1 year subaversary! 100 posts and 1 year - quite the accomplishment Mack!!! TGIF :)
So grateful to hear your process and how you dive deeper into this. Thanks for sharing and helping me grow wiser.
